Ricardo Villalobos – Dexter
Playhouse reprints the ‘number one’ album of the last decade (according to Resident Advisor): ‘Alcachofa’ by Ricardo Villalobos. ‘Dexter’ was one of the tracks that brought me more into the slower bpm spectrum of electronic music (I was quite an adept of 165+ bpm music). A well deserved winner of that poll, what an album.

A couple of mixes
Lately I’ve been enjoying these mixes:
2 Oliver Deutschman mixes (Berlin sound). One recent. One slightly older. Very gifted DJ.
Ellen Allien Always Fridays guest mix.
Patchwork Pirates Fabric Promo Mix (anything from crunk to dubstep back to garage and funk). It’s quite hypa hypa but they just get away with it. Special attention goes out to the [...]
Hot City – Hot City Bass
Recently featured on Fabric’s Elevator Music volume 1 with the bass-heavy tune “If that’s how I feel”, Hot City’s pushing out some nice bass-driven housy tracks. This one, Hot City Bass, was released last year on Ramp recordings, but it still sounds killer to me.
On a side note, I just found out I missed Hot [...]
Peter Van Hoesen – Abstract One
Fuse club in Brussels has a new resident DJ, Peter Van Hoesen. If you’re into Basic Channel, you’ll like his stuff. Like this ‘Abstract One’, his 4/4 sounds are scaped from pure blackness. So I’m curious to see how that will work out on the dancefloor. You can download his last EP for free at [...]

Aubrey – Dark (Pendle Coven Mix)
Pendle Coven remixes this Basic Channel sounding track by veteran Aubrey. It’s dirtier than I’m used to hear from Pendle Coven, but it’s got a floating atmosphere which I like too much.
Check out the other remix and the original version on the official release.

Pavel Ambiont – Error Asking Thread To Dub
This is one mesmerizing trip through echoed bits and reverbed bytes. There were several moments I was expecting the beat to fall in. However, the beatless suspense keeps you focused till the track finishes.
Supersounds by Pavel Ambiont, who released two tracks with Pinch. Enjoy.

Oliver Hacke – 21:31
I get so mixed up by hearing this track. It makes me feel positive, however the whole mood is in an unspoken way very sad. Its bassline tells a story of forgotten passion and lonely endless sights. Somewhere in the middle, the story turns out to be quite positive as hope flickers from the changed [...]

EQD – Equalized #002 B
This is one weird track. It’s so out of the box, I got hooked by it. The beats discomfort me and the trancy loop makes me dizzy. Curious how it sounds like?
I discovered it by searching for the new Shed release on SubSolo (which will be released somewhere mid-december). I guess this label is linked [...]
