We’ve been a huge fan of Martijn Deykers, even before his artist name was Martyn. His drum’n'bass DJ sets as DJ Pan were legendary, just as the RedZone parties he organized in Eindhoven. After the release of ‘Great Lengths‘ in 2009, our expectations were high for his second album ‘Ghost People‘. As you see, we’ve put the title track on number 6, which proves he met all expectations! It’s a fantastic album, and more dance floor orientated. Which makes it more focussed and more coherent than Great Lengths.

We had Viper and Masks on the blog this year.

A personal favorite, I’m glad to see some new stuff from Martyn posted over on his label’s Soundcloud! After a quiet stretch following his album release we got the incredible “Miniluv” and a great Fabriclive where Martyn didn’t hide his love for the Ostgut sound. Now he’s finally back with two new tracks embodying the best the DC-based Dutchman has to offer: a dubby sound with minimal/techy background, mixing up the best of several genres, resulting in an easily identified sound that just screams dancefloor.

Martyn‘s back with a new split on Berlin’s Ostgut Ton. Whilst I was slightly let down by At Great Lengths, Martyn’s full album, it was only because I had come to expect so much from this Chicago based Dutch producer. Miniluv luckily confirms my beliefs in Martyn as an excellent producer and someone to expect more great things from.

Martyn and Zomby together, sounds as a killer combination to me! And yes indeed, this track combines best of both crazy creative minds. Zomby creates a dark (darker then Hear me, yes!) atmosphere over bouncing kwaito beats. The sound of 2010 has been defined!

Just released as 12″ and MP3 release, with a RedShape remix on the flip.

After a couple of essential releases and after his much applauded album ‘Great Lengths’, it was a bit quiet around Martyn in the second part of 2009. And now I hear this! He delivers another wicked remix, now for Detachments on ‘Thisisnotanexit’ records. I’m especially fond of the second part of the track, where Martyn finds an emotional balance between bass, guitars, beats and vocals.
