Manix and Dego worked under the disguise of Cold Mission (which is one one of their monikers, 4Hero, Jacob’s Optical Stairway and Tek9 sound maybe more familiar) somewhere between 1994 and 1996. Reinforced (god, what a legendary label!) made a compilation from the few Cold Mission 12″s that were floating around in that time. Expect rattling amen-breaks and washing atmospheric synthlines. Ruff!

No introduction needed for drum’n'bass classic ‘Mutant Jazz’. Sax, panflutes, pads and snare-melodies are the perfect setting for late summer evenings.
And yes, this featured as well on the brilliant compilation Freezone 2 by DJ Morpheus from Brussels (check his bio, Morpheus has a serious musical history!).
The coming week(s), I’ll be posting some tracks from the excellent compilation ‘Freezone 2‘ by DJ Morpheus. For me, this compilation defined my taste in music. It features atmospheric laidback beats by top names like Kruder & Dorfmeister, The Mighty Bop, Ballistic Brothers and The Sentinel aka Photek.
