After it issued that brilliant Jacob Korn tune, Dolly now releases ‘Redbox’ by old time Dutch favourite Dexter. Expect Detroit oriented dancefloor old school house with a killer synth on this B-side. As Boomkat says: “It’s hard to this sort of pure club track justice in words, you need to feel this in situ and you’ll know the craic.” Damn right baby.

Have you read ‘On the Road’ by Kerouac (I did)? Or did you saw ‘The Blues Brothers’ movie (I didn’t)? Well, I first thought the quote in this track came from Dean Moriarty (crazy main character from Kerouac’s famous novel). However, the quote comes from ‘The Blues Brothers’. Anyway, the quote gives ‘Day Of The Dead’ a rough edge, and turns the insane zooming bassline into a perfect soundtrack for a rush drive by night. Wicked tune, and very exclusively made for 2562!

Instra:mental can do no wrong. Their new single was featured already on this blog (check this November post). ‘Let’s Talk’ is a slow house track, the flow is calm and the atmosphere gloomy. Intriguing!

Through his Raw Cuts series and releases on the Four Roses label, Plessow has developed a hypnotic deep house sound that simultaneously reveres the past while remaining clearly focused on the future.

Virgo – Ride

The fine people over at Clone Records have decided to re-issue what is probably one of the best house albums of all time: Virgo’s self titled album from 1989. It’s amazing how fresh these songs still sound after 20 years. This is deep and dark Chicago House, and an absolutely essential purchase if you don’t have this album in your collection. Together with closing track ‘All the time’ this is one of my favourite tracks:

Riding the waves of YouTube, I stumbled upon this fantastic track. It grasped my ear immediately, because of the warm synth, the organic drums, and the visuals. Caribou slowly builds up the tension, by adding subtle drum layers, increasing the stress on the vocal loop, and going loose on the synth line. Great stuff, and if you want more, you can check the whole album ‘Swim’ on Soundcloud (not everything is my cup of tea though). ‘Swim’ will be released on April 19th.
