Mock & Toof – Farewell to Wendo

Mock & Toof‘s debut album comes out this week and ‘Farewell to Wendo’ is the first single. The UK duo has built up a minor reputation via 12″ releases on DFA Recordings, and remixes for Hot Chip, Zero 7 and Groove Armada. The album is a bit ‘hit and miss’ for me, but “Farewell To Wendo” is a beautiful song announcing the first hot summer nights. If you’re into Caribou, Bonobo and the Permanent Vacation stuff this might be your thing. Download the single here for free and check out the music video, directed by Playgroup’s Trevor Jackson!

    Walls – Hang Four

Walls are a band from London made up of members Sam Willis (Allez-Allez) and Alessio Natalizia (from Banjo or Freakout) which signed to Kompakt in December 2009 and immediately released their debut album a couple of weeks ago. The album fits easily in your ambient collection next to The KLF, Neu!, Spiritualized and The Field. ‘Hang Four’ is for me the stand-out track, mixing cosmic sounds with a deep, warm bass and a lush melody. Great.

Low Motion Disco – Love Love Love (Aeroplane Remix)

Love love love. Yes, actually we are all hippies over here at the blog. Peace Love and Unity is our motto ladies and gents! Although we have pumped our fists in the air to Kemal’s ‘Fuckin Hostile’ as well in the past, but that’s another story. This lovely song was released by Eskimo Recordings in 2008. It’s a piece of ‘nu’-disco at its finest. I like the original a lot, but when i was looking for this song on youtube I saw that they only have the Aeroplane remix available, which is actually even better! I’m sure you all will be wanting to wave your arms in the air when the song hits the 3.40 mark. Let me know in the comments section. I’m particularly looking at you Kevin.

Anyway, the reason I’m posting this because Amnesty International is doing another music-related fundraising attempt. This time you can get 180 songs for 5 dollars. There’s an interesting line-up of bands participating (4Hero, Jori Hulkkonen, Fennesz, Low Motion Disco, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Mujava and many many more) so go and contribute to the good cause by listening to some fine music. That’s a no-brainer, no?
