Andreya Triana – A Town Called Obsolete (Mount Kimbie remix)

Ninja Tune’s new rising star Andreya Triana worked on her soon to be released debut with Fly Lo, Bonobo, Mr. Scruff and Theo Parrish. Now her last single before the album release is getting the remix treatment by Mount Kimbie. Sweeter than sweet with a little bit of sugar on top. I like. Be sure to check out the original version of the track as well here. Promising album/artist!

Model 500 – Wanna Be There

History lesson, Detroit meets Ghent: Model 500 on R&S records. It’s frankly amazing how relevant this track from the legendary group surrounding Juan Atkins sounds today.

As a little extra, Model 500′s No UFOs performed on Detroit’s New Dance Show in 1986 (!). We were still in our nappies and these people were already busting moves to heavy stomping beats!

    Technasia – Force

Perhaps the best tune from this legendary techno outfit. Already dating back 10 years, this tune still sounds as heavy as it did then: a rolling chord monster! Enjoy the non-vocal version below. Switch to 480p for better sound quality!

killer tune! This totally defines the sound of parties around the time I was allowed to go clubbing :) I’ve always loved this kind of techno and I still loathe the harder minimal approach it took soon after :(
But this track is just MADNESS!!! :D

      Great post!

Africa Hitech – The Sound Of Tomorrow

This glitched out nu soul style vocal track by recent Warp signing Africa Hitech is a real treat. Steve Spacek on the vocals. Be sure to also check the much more ragga-tastic A-side here.

Where’s the track “how does it make you feel”??? Been waiting so long for that one!

The other half of Africa Hitech is Mark Pritchard, also known for his solo work as Troubleman and his other coop as Harmonic 313. The Harmonic 313 sound really shines through on “how does it make you feel”, which, unfortunately we’ll have to wait a little longer for.

You can check out “How does it make you feel” on Hepcat radio show #24!!

Theo Parrish – Falling up (Carl Craig remix)

A perfect remix by CC from 2005 that he still plays now and again in his sets. For me, techno doesn’t come much better than this. Tune in, embrace and enjoy!

Kmag Sonorous Mix (feat. Whizz & Daze)

This just goes to show how much we (Whizz & Daze) have been out of the DnB news loop. Apparently, Sonorous music, home to a few or our releases, was featured in Kmag in Dec 2009 with a guest mix (feat. Whizz & Daze) and interview. Check the interview and tracklisting after the Soundcloud link.

The Notorious B.I.G. – Suicidal Thoughts (Lorn Remix)

Heard this tune in the Patchwork Pirates mix I posted before and have loved it ever since. Very Modeslektor-esque. Big bassline, nice progression in the breakdown. Good stuff!

    A couple of mixes

Lately I’ve been enjoying these mixes:

2 Oliver Deutschman mixes (Berlin sound). One recent. One slightly older. Very gifted DJ.

Ellen Allien Always Fridays guest mix.

Patchwork Pirates Fabric Promo Mix (anything from crunk to dubstep back to garage and funk). It’s quite hypa hypa but they just get away with it. Special attention goes out to the Notorious remix!

Hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

    Calibre – Steptoe (Signature)

Calibre drops an absolute bass line bomb on his own Signature label. It feels a bit like Fire & Water finally has a contestant for the title of ‘best bassline by Calibre’. Sorry for the stupendously low quality radio clip (hence the tune coming in at the end), but this will surely be appreciated.

    Turn it up!
