Andreya Triana – Lost Where I belong (Flying Lotus remix)
After ‘Tea Leaf Dancer’, Miss Triana and Sir FlyLo team up again. The track has a warm chaotic feel due to the typical Flying Lotus spacebeats and filter madness.
Dark Arx is a label from London, trying to bridge the gap between dubtechno and UK garage. Expect the subtleness of Berlin combined with the ravier London street sounds. The result is a refreshing and well crafted tune. Recommended!
Check their Soundcloud for more music!
With this trio teaming up, what else can you expect than darkness, experimental sounds and stripped down beats? The main line reminds me of eighties new wave, or of a track from Aphex’ ambient collection. Obscure and special, check it out.
Essential records in your life. Everybody has some of them, and all are very personal, all have a story. Every time I play ‘On The Nile’ by Peshay, I read the same story in my mind, I see the setting, I hear the actors and feel the mood. My story is about hearing something totally different than what I’ve heard before. About putting the needle on a record for the very first time. The mood is warm, exciting, sheer pleasure. The actor is my brother. He bought my defining record somewhere in 1997. Time to thank him for that, I guess
Riding the waves of YouTube, I stumbled upon this fantastic track. It grasped my ear immediately, because of the warm synth, the organic drums, and the visuals. Caribou slowly builds up the tension, by adding subtle drum layers, increasing the stress on the vocal loop, and going loose on the synth line. Great stuff, and if you want more, you can check the whole album ‘Swim’ on Soundcloud (not everything is my cup of tea though). ‘Swim’ will be released on April 19th.
Hotflush announced the release of Sepalcure’s debut EP. The Sepalcure website features two nice tracks, with astonishing drawings by Sougwen. Despite the obvious vocal samples, ‘Every Day Of My Life’ is great. It has a soothing atmosphere, and the slow bpm turns the track into a perfect companion for a hot summer afternoon (which I normally do not relate to dubstep-ish music).
It has kind of a flying lotus sound. Im diggin this….
Dial Records from Hamburg releases a new compilation filled with techno-at-ease, emotional minimal and roadtrip-by-night electronica. This reminds me of Superpitcher‘s excellent mix album ‘Today’. This compil is in the same league, and I love every second of it. Essential!
Boomkat has the full album as download. Go and buy it if you like this.
Roska released his debut album last week, and it’s filled with kicks & snares, soul and bass. I really like all tracks, the album is modest, and a perfect balance between beats and bass. There are a lot of tracks out on YouTube, but this is maybe one of my favourites. Purrrfect flow!
A new Claro Intelecto on Modern Love! ‘Back in the day’ takes you back to Detroit in the 80s or London in the 90s. But with enough feedback, delay and reverb it gets that typical Claro Intelecto touch. And we love that touch, he’s excellent in building a soundscape, a feeling of despair and a flow which keeps it very dancefloor oriented.
14tracks has this week a special edition on Claro Intelecto. Buy 14 of his tracks for £6,86
