Dubatech is completely unknown to me, but I came across this track and I really loved it. Floating stabs, echoes of cold winter nights and a firm 4/4 beat are combined in this icy track ‘Nonagon’. Good to close 2009, and start 2010.
End of November, Consequence released his album ‘Live For Never‘ on Exit Recordings. His style is very minimalistic, so put on your headphones to discover all subtle layers of melancholy, tension and silence. Deep as we like it!
Unreleased-Joy-Orbison-tune-alert. The bass in this one is killing, the beats are cool, and the sounds are refreshing. Joy Orbison’s tracks have matured, have more layers and are even more melodic. Emotional electronic music for the dancefloor as Gilles put it. Correct.
We at the Worlds Below 100Hz can not get enough of Floating Points and his perfect blend of house and hiphop. His tracks are so well crafted, are so soulful and give us the perfect warmth during these cold winter nights. Here he remixes Angel Lady from Aaron Jerome.

Aaaah, new Sigha on Hot Flush, always a pleasure. I met this guy in the Blackmarket shop in the beginning of 2009, when he just released his first 12″ on Hot Flush. “Rawww” is his third on Hot Flush, and I’ve been digging the diversity of his releases. “Rawww” is the best sound you can hear in dubtechno at this moment. It’s funky, it’s dreamy. Just our style!
Our friends at Unrezt / Thin Consolation released a new EP by Odaka (also known as Rawakari). The title track is just lovely. Its warm bassline carries the heartbeat of a puzzled mind, doubting between dancing or thinking. The beat+bass invites him to the dancefloor, but somewhere between those melodic pads, the loneliness awaits. Highly recommended.
One of my former KM collegues has already for quite some time an interesting blog which has developed this very nice tool to determine the ‘best song of 2009′. It’s not exactly like DJMAG has selected the tunes, not at all! Lots of our favourites are in there (Joy Orbison, Burial, Floating Points, Junior Boys, The Field etc..) so check out the application below – you might do some discoveries! I’m always checking new releases from Boxcutter, but this time it took me quite some time to check out his new full length ‘Arecibo Message’. Too much good music out there you know. Don’t know yet what to think of the album as a whole, but the first two tracks are definite winners. Boxcutter’s dubstep leans usually more towards electronica and jazz, but on the new album he also has some subtle house-influenced tunes. Check out ‘Mya Rave v2′ for instance.
Great track from UK artist Irrelevant. The bass melody is gloomy, but the vocals and strings shed a bit of light in the deep depths of “Echoes”. Be sure to check out his soundcloud account, because he has some other nice tracks there. Recommended!
Best track from Zomby‘s One Foot Ahead Of The Other album. And the extracts from the movie go really well with the uplifting melody.
